Quality education requires first hand information. It is a known fact that
teaching with the use of books with illustrations can be an effective method of
educating the young minds much more if they will be given an opportunity to
experience them. Experience is said to
be a great teacher. Through field trips, the students enjoy the journey of
learning in a different way. It also allows the students to experience a new
treat of knowledge outside the classroom by visiting our historical landmarks,
enviable tourist spots, and rediscover our wildlife. As well as familiarize
themselves at an early age the excitement ad amusing country’s heritage like
theme parks, museums, and shrine. Field
trips generally provide students with experiences that cannot be duplicated in
the school but are nonetheless an integral part of the general knowledge
which are worthwhile for the students. It can also enable teachers to expand
students' learning beyond the walls of classroom into the vast community
outside.
Manila Bulletin and Solid Laguna Corp.
The first field trip destination was the Manila Bulletin located at Intramuros, Manila.
We learned and we were able to witness how the newspapers are being printed with the use of the company’s huge printing machines bought from Japan. We also toured the whole vicinity including the area where the newspapers were packed for delivery to the different parts of country.
There were not much pictures taken because cameras are not allowed inside. However, the tour facilitator in Manila Bulletin was able to spark the interests of the students with his very informative discussion of the process involved in the newspaper printing.
